Push It - a 10k fundraising wheelchair push/walk for ME Research Sunday 11 Sep 2011
I'm Rachel Groves from Lichfield, Staffordshire, UK and I have an illness called ME/CFS . This illness has devasted my life, leaving me debilitated, disabled, unable to work and pretty much housebound.
My condition means I can't run a marathon or do a skydive to fundraise. In fact I can't even attend to my own basic self care needs on a day to day basis. So I'm asking for some help.
Push It is a 10k walk/push and will raise funds for ME Research. On Sunday 11th September 2011 a team of volunteers will push me in my wheelchair over a 1o km route around Lichfield.
I'm looking for volunteers to walk from 1km to the whole 10km, to push me for sections of the route and of course appealing for sponsorship.
Sitting in the wheelchair while being pushed might not sound like hard work for me it's actually going to be a huge effort on my part. Due to ME/CFS I am mainly housebound and when I do go out it requires careful planning or my condition can be worsen very easily.
I'll also be documenting what happens and keeping you all informed through live updates via Twitter and Facebook.
